1. Are there age restrictions for guests staying at your hostel?
The minimum age to check into our backpacker is 18 years of age and there is no maximum age limit.
Persons under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult guardian and may only stay in private rooms.
Persons aged 16 to 17 may stay in dorm rooms but must be accompanied by an adult guardian.
2. Can I store my luggage at the hostel when I check out?
Absolutely! We have a luggage storage room where you can leave your belongings for free when waiting to check into a room, or once checked out of a room.
3. Are there laundry facilities at the Greenhouse?
Yes, the guest laundry is located on level 6 and is coin operated. Highly efficient wash & dry combo are available and you may also purchase soap.
4. Are linen and towels provided?
Yes. Once checked into our hostel you will notice that your comfy bed is complete with linen. If you need a towel, reception can provide you with one for $1. Upon checkout, please strip your bed and bring your linen and towel to Level 6. We don’t have bed bugs and don’t want them so please leave your sleeping bags at home!
5. Are there lockers in the dorm room?
Yes, but you must bring your own 25mm padlock. If you don’t have a padlock, you may purchase one from reception.
6. Is breakfast included?
Continental breakfast is included with your room rate and is available every morning from 7am to 9am in the dining room. On Thursdays we change it up a little and put on a Big English Breakfast, complete with sausages, baked beans and bacon. Lucky guests on Sunday morning can sleep in and enjoy a pancake breakfast from 11am – 12pm, or early birds may still enjoy a continental breakfast.

8. Does the hostel have kitchen facilities?
Yes, our hostel has fully equipped kitchen facilities complete with refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, toasters, crockery and cutlery and storage space for your belongings. We dare you to show us your Gordon Ramsay culinary skills!
9. Will there be a bathroom in my dorm/private room?
There are common bathrooms on each floor, each with wash basins, showers and toilets.
10. Is there a supermarket nearby?
Coles Supermarket is located on the corner of Elizabeth Street and Flinders Street, a 3 minute walk from the Greenhouse Backpacker.
11. Can I change or cancel my reservation?
Please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you wish to cancel or change your reservation. When you make a reservation with the Greenhouse, we ask for an estimated time of arrival. If you are running late on the day of your booking, please free call us on 1800 249 207 and let us know. This ensures that we do not release your bed and on-sell it to a desperate backpacker.
12. I hate hostels that charge me for using my credit card. Do you do that too?
We also think this sucks! No, we don’t charge any additional fees if you wish to pay by credit card. At the Greenhouse we accept Eftpos, Visa and Mastercard. We unfortunately do not take Diners or American Express.
13. Is there free internet at the hostel?
Yes, for guests who bring their own laptops, we have FREE WIFI available in certain areas of the hostel. You may gain access through a secure password which can be obtained from hostel reception. For those without a laptop, you are entitled to 30 minutes of free internet access per day on the guest computer terminals.
14. What time can I check in?
Check in time is after 12pm, once housekeeping has finished cleaning the rooms. If you arrive to the hostel earlier than 12pm, you are welcome to leave your luggage in our luggage storage room and hang around in our lounge/dining room, use the kitchen, access the WIFI or explore beautiful Melbourne.
15. What do I need to check in to the Greenhouse?
Photo identification is required on check in (passport, driver’s licence or I.D card are all acceptable).

18. How early do I need to book?
The earlier the better! Our busiest months are November to April; however Melbourne is an extremely busy city with many international events that attract BIG crowds throughout the year. We suggest you book as soon as you know your travel plans!
